Terracotta Knit Make-up Bag

Using this modified version of the Sundance make-up bag pattern I found on Ravelry, I quickly knitted up a beautiful little bag as a birthday present for my good friend Elisha :)  I just adore the terracotta red yarn! I used Cotton Ease by Lion Brand which is actually one of my favorite yarns to work with- great stitch definition, never any problems with 'splitting' and the Cotton Ease line comes in wonderful colors like the one above along with a mustard yellow and lime green (to name a few)

To give the bag more structure and to make it more functional, i hand stitched in this funky liner! Not only did this fabric remind me of Elisha's house (images of her red walls and a vintage chair in the same shade of green popped in my mind when i saw this pattern) but it matched :el perfecto: with the yarn.

This bag is worked in one piece, starting with the flap and working down to the main moss stitch body. The flap was really fun to make and would be a great project for anyone who wants to practice increasing/decreasing. A singular bronze button adds to the look without distracting from the lovely texture of the stitches.

I am really in love with this bag and am thinking up whipping up a bunch to give as Christmas presents to my sisters. The only downside is that the bag came out a little smaller than i thought it would, so i would definitely tweak the pattern (again) to make it bigger.

Also, feel free to check out my Ravelry page to view more of my knit projects- they are available for all to view, not just ravelry members ;)
