Free Knit Pattern // Mini Cotton Hair Bow

This past weekend I whipped up some super simple hair bows for Evelyn, and I thought i'd share the pattern with y'all. I just LOVE these bows! Since they are knit up with cotton, they are durable and retain their shape well. The size is perfect for both toddlers and babies and it takes no time at all to knit these cuties up. Also, by using self-striping yarn, I was able to make bows of differing colors without having to buy multiply skeins of yarn.

THE MATERIALS

  • 1 skein of Sugar 'n Cream Stripes 100% cotton worsted yarn
  • US #3 sized needles
  • Sewing needle with eye to fit yarn
  • 2 inch snap hair clip
  • Hot glue gun
THE PATTERN

Gauge: 5 sts =1 inch garter stitch

Finished Size: 2 1/4 inches long, by 1 inch wide

Begin:

CO 5 sts leaving a long tail

continue in garter stitch for 46 rows

BO leaving a long tail

FINISHING

fold each end so that they meet in the middle of your knitted strip

sew the ends together and DO NOT cut the yarn

Take the two tails left from CO & BO and wrap tightly and evenly around the center of the knitted strip, creating a bow shape.

Hot glue ends into place on the back (sewn side)

Hot glue snap clip to the back of bow, let set.

    1. haha, you should try again! I remember the first time I tried, I practiced for two days straight and could not even cast on. I tried again a year later and it just clicked, and I haven't put the needles down since :)

    1. Thank you! It was so quick to make- the bow, not the toddler. She took awhile to make ;)
