No More Frumpy Mama

That's right. I admit it. I have become a frumpy mama. My hair hangs loosely off my head in a dull brown shade in a hairstyle that has grown out to a point that it can no longer be called a hairstyle. My make-up is minimal, eyebrows need waxing and my body is....well i can't say its like Jello because jello is firm even when it jiggles; its more like a body that was once pregnant but the skin hasn't caught on to the fact that all that pregnancy weight is gone, so it kinda lays there ignorantly even though i yell at it to go back to the way it was, "hello! The baby is gone now, go back to wherever you came from extra skin!" ...it doesn't seem to understand me. So yes, that is how i would describe my body. Sexy. i know. And the clothes that hang from my white hangers are either too small, too big,too blah or too what was i thinking. So i end up wearing the same white tee with the same tight skinnys that need a hair tie to help the button and loop meet. May i insert here that i am 10weeks pregnant right now so the whole pants too small thing is normal---i don't have a muffin top i assure you. Anyways the day i turned 20 i realized that i had turned 20. not 30. which is a realization when you have been married 2 years with a 1 year old and another on the way with an occupation thats uniform is a robe. Things turn frumpy. Well i decided that i would do something about it and look my age if i cannot act my age. (Not that i would want to act my age) I am reinventing my image of myself, which is what women do best. head to toe.

  • Hair- I've decided to take my lackluster brown to a platinum blonde. Extreme i know, but i feel it is exactly what i am looking for. I was really inspired my Scarlett Johansson in her Dolce and Gabbana ads. I believe the actress exudes class and sexuality, and with hair like icon Marilyn Monroe, I'm hoping that a touch of the classy and sexy will exude from me too when i rock the platinum 'do.

  • Face- Luckily I've been blessed with a face and skin that I can't complain about. But like every good thing, it too needs upkeep. I believe a revamping of my make-up bag is all i need, and what is more fun than shopping for make-up?! Even though the prospect of playing at Sephora for hours sounds awesome I'm leaning towards a more narrow path. I've heard awesome things about Bare Escentuals so in lieu of my liquid foundation, I'm going to try the mineral path. There is a Bare Escentuals store in the Fashion Show mall down the road which has numerous starter kits and 2 tables full of every color imaginable in a mineral eyeshadow. THAT is the place i am going to hit up for some new make-up bag friends :)

  • Body- This one is a toughie. I am pregnant so my body is going to go through a lot of crazy changes. I'm tempted to just wait out the nine months, then work with what i got. The thing is I'm constantly tired, down right exhausted and the idea of working out at a gym is well...probably not going to happen. Not to mention membership fees. I think I'll do the gym scene once i get my body back. But that doesn't mean i don't have another option. My husband got me a yoga DVD last Christmas that is currently gathering dust. why not break it out? Every Fit Pregnancy magazine I've ever read preaches about the wonders of yoga, and in the comfort of my home when Evelyn is napping- I'm sure i can do a daily yoga regimen. not only will it work out my arms, legs and butt but I'll be left feeling more energetic and better about my body. sounds good to me!

  • Clothes- http://www.forever21.com/customerservice/showwishlist.asp?target=wishlist This is a wish list off Forever21 with clothes that are a little more edgy and young than my white t-shirt army. I'm hoping to slowly purchase these items, and thanks to draping and stretchy material i don't need to fret about my soon to be baby bump. An elastic band skirt pair with a long shirt and cropped leather jacket...oh yeah.

This frumpy mama is getting a make-over

  1. very nice, finally take off the robe and live your life :) I can't wait to see the new hair and I have to agree about the bare minerals, I just got some on friday, a matte golden medium powder that won't lay in my creases. they cost about 30.00, at least the foundation powder does. I also have the radiance powder, you know how I like to glow.
Have fun with all you do, from shopping to yoga!!! love you lots :)

  3. Wow! I love this post. Very honest and you've got great goals along with an action plan of how to reach them. This is what I've been doing with the young ladies in our small group. This post is a great example. I love the yoga idea. I just started taking a class after my weight class at Golds and it's wonderful. It's amazing how it is relaxing and tones you at the same time. I'm sure it's great for during pregnancy and like you said it's wonderful to do when Evelyn takes her nap. I look forward to keeping up with you and your progress on here. Do remember this though - even "frumpy" you are one gorgeous young lady!!!!
    Love you!
