Feature Friday~ Huggable Home

Happy Friday y'all! Today's 'Feature Friday' is with Wanda of Huggable Home, an Etsy shop comprised of colorful, rustic style pillows featuring simplistic lines and design. All pillows are handmade using cozy vintage blanket fabric. Filled with feathers and stitched up retro style, these cushions are bound to make you "ohhhhh" when you see them and "ahhhhh" when you lay on them! Now that you know a little about the product, here is some insight into the woman behind their creation...

What 5 words would you use to describe yourself?

creative impatient eclectic organised versatile

Tell us a little bit about your Etsy shop, Huggable Home

Huggable Home is about tactile, colourful, well made, quirky objects for the home which are probably functional but may just be fun as well!

What inspires your pieces?

I really love well made, well considered design of the 20th century - especially simple, clean modern movement pieces. I'm a big fan of Gordon Russell and his Utility pieces of WW2 and beyond; Edwin Lutyens' simplistic traditional use of materials like stone and oak, Saul Bass' graphics and Barbara Hulanicki's entrepreneurial spirit. I get very excited over found objects, anything to do with Frank Sinatra and the glamorous 50s era

Share one vintage and one handmade item currently on your Etsy wishlist!

SAUL BASS record album design, 1955. "The Man With the Golden Arm" soundtrack LP

Scottlindberg’s shop: the vintage graphics: this combines my Bass/Sinatra thing. The graphics are so iconic.

Felted low countered slippers made of softest merino wool

I love these ingOOte slippers: they look so solid and squidgy at the same time. They’d be so cosy. I like their utilitarian colour too.

Can you give us a sneak peek at the next pillow you are working on?

My current project is pillows from vintage wool picnic blankets for outdoors. The idea of changing something or re-imagining it is fun. It’s great to breathe new life into something that’s obviously served its purpose so lovingly.

and just for fun, what is your favorite flavor of coffee?

My favourite coffee flavour ( at the moment) - possibly a bit boring (hope not) is good old filter grade de-caff. I’m trying to de-stress and get to sleep properly. Tea-wise - I vary between Earl Grey and what we call in the UK “British Rail”; just good, hot and strong, no sugar.

Thank you Wanda! Who else wants to buy a pillow just for the adorable 'Huggable' tag? As a knitter I cannot deny such a cute sheep image :) and as a lover of all things cozy and handmade- that Thirsk Stripe pillow is calling my name. Lucky for us, not only has Wanda taken the time to answer my little questions, but she is also offering a coupon code exclusively for Folklure readers!

Use this code at checkout to receive a pleasant discount on your order!
